Balkan Urbanismus, Die bosnische Chronik Die Zukunft ist nicht, was sie einmal WAR  ‘Architecture can Heal’ Publication

Balkan Urbanism - Die bosnische Chronik,  ISBN 3-88375-925-2, p. 364,365, 384-389

Mit Mladen Jadric, Said Jamkovic, Mersiha Veledar, Lebbeus Woods
Kuratiert von Azra Aksamija

The exhibition> Balkan Urbanism - The Bosnian Chronicle </> The Bosnian Chronicle <explores the architectural discourse in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has evolved as a result and in response to the war. The war and the current socio-political situation, marked by the collapse of the institutional power have meant that there is great instability in all political, social and economic areas of the country. This in turn has created conditions for a constant change of urban space, an issue that is the focus of the exhibition; the main parameters of architectural production are shifted in this context and redefined. She tries to explore the possibilities of architecture as a socio-political practice, but not to show off on the basis of situations where you would normally expect solutions, and without the problems that demand for such solutions.
How can architects and urban planners suggestion found in the urban processes that rapidly increased in the wake of the war to speed? As they express their personal experiences and feelings in the language of architecture? The concept of reconstruction is not easy to grasp, because it is not just about monuments of "Kulturozids" goes, but also to create a new identity of the country, both for the past and for the future. How can architects channeling their knowledge to direct the energies of the country in a positive direction and to promote from within sustainable urban development? The participating architects will hire specific architectural studies related to these topics. [Translated from German].
